Whilst I don’t have much time for a Netflix or Apple TV series, if I’m switching the TV on, it’s usually to find a film to watch instead. Or even better, heading out to the cinema.

The idea of leaving home comforts behind and heading to the cinema became much more appealing when Everyman Cinema came to Canary Wharf. I’ve been impressed by the way Everyman have taken an experience that so many of us already enjoy and enhanced it to make it significantly better: the plush, spacious seating, the contemporary interiors, the decent menu, and, of course, the service to the sofas - what more could you ask for?

But my interest in films doesn’t even come close to the passion that Nick has for all things movies. A cinema fanatic, a movie buff, Nick holds an Everyman Cinema Pass so that he can pop in whenever he chooses to. An ideal way to unwind, a good film distracts you from the mental To Do list whirring around in your head and the stress that can often stay with you long after you’ve logged off. Whilst some may view a cinema night as a special occasion, Nick uses it as his switch-off.

My genre of choice is pretty typical - thrillers, comedies, and possibly a spot of sci-fi. Whereas, Nick’s passion lies in the golden oldies, the classics, films like Top Gun and Die Hard. When Everyman are showing reruns of the best-loved films of the century, Nick is there, menu in hand, totally in his element.

Have you been to an Everyman cinema? Either here in Canary Wharf or elsewhere? It really is a brilliant cinema experience. Wish I’d thought of it myself….
